Bethan Allen

Bethan works with taboo subjects, including her exploration of drug addiction to her most current work on the notion of loss. The process to this work covers drawings of her personal feelings during grief, developing into intricate photos of abandoned buildings such as mental asylums. The abandoned rooms, behind closed doors in places that were solely for the purpose of helping people who had mental health issues. The photographs depict the isolation of many who suffered physical harm, who lost their lives and whose souls still roam the abandoned corridors. While visiting these places she leaves a rose as a sign of peace and love, the concept of bringing love back into a place that was once dark.
