Max Hughes

Hughes explores the intertwined nature of sound and mark-making through the manipulation of paint on the surface through large gestures, using music to generate action and rhythm. He creates visceral marks and textures through the use of traditional and his own handmade tools. These have guided the expanded dimensions of the works.
