Tilly Lewis

Tilly Lewis investigates the flesh and body, using the unpredictable nature of watercolour to explore nudity and human nature. Her practice rejects mainstream representations of the body, diverting assumptions that flesh equals sex, or that nudity means pornography. Her body is at the forefront of her practice; she uses it as a point of reference, a tool and as a marker of societal norms. She is interested in the abject, and terms like ‘disgusting’ that we attach to the body along with the tasks that we endure to ensure it is not attached to us, to conform.
